Walt Disney once said, “All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” 

 

God instills dreams into everyone’s minds, but most don’t pursue them due to fear - especially fear of failure.

 

Most people don’t realize that failures are temporary setbacks and are part of the process of fulfilling one’s dreams. They quit after one or multiple failures and while failures are temporary, quitting is permanent and is the true failure.

 

Another reason why people don’t pursue their dreams is because they fear being mocked.

 

Just imagine how Thomas Edison, Henry Ford and The Wright Brothers and many other inventers and innovators were ridiculed and scorned. It is said that friends and family members of Guglielmo Marconi, who was the inventor of the radio, thought he was insane and wanted to commit him to a mental institution when he announced that he could transmit messages through the air.

In addition to fear, sharing your dreams with family and friends can prove fatal to achieving success with one’s dreams. Most will shoot them down and discourage you from pursuing them and inflict you with self-doubt. I refer to these people as “dream-smooshers”.

​

God didn’t show your friends, family members or anyone else your dreams so they do not understand your dreams and can’t envision the successful end result that you visualize.

​

While fear kills dreams and can paralyze you, faith overcomes fear. However, faith alone without action will not enable us to transform our dreams into realities. As James 2:17 reminds us, “Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.”

​

The essence of life is growth and if God instilled a dream within you, keep in mind what Napoleon Hill once said - “Whatever your mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.”

  

No matter what your age, you still have time to fulfill your dreams if you still have breath. If you have yet to fulfill them, discipline yourself while keeping the faith until you do fulfill them.

​

Spend some time every day adding fuel to your dreams and perpetually work on them until they come to fruition. Otherwise, if you don’t work on fulfilling your dreams, someone will hire you to work on fulfilling theirs.
