“The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil constitution, are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors: they purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle or be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men.”

Those are Samuel Adams’ words of wisdom that serve as a reminder for all Americans who cherish their freedoms and liberties.

The two primary principles that inspired our Founding Fathers to fight for the establishment of our nation were – Freedom and Liberty. Once their mission was accomplished, they were fully aware of the persistent threat of despotism and knew that perpetual vigilance would be required of Americans to preserve the freedoms and liberties we enjoy today.

Our Founding Fathers recognized that safeguarding our freedoms and liberties would be challenging, but the loss of those liberties can happen all too easily.​

​

They knew that a limited government would continually be seeking ways to expand its power over the lives of Americans. We need look no further than the current State and Federal Governments across the nation for evidence of this.

​

The primary freedom many in power are focusing on undermining is our freedom of speech, which is the first and foremost right from which all other political rights derive. The right to speak freely without government interference is the cornerstone of American democracy and the foundation upon which the United States was built.

George Washington forewarned, “If the freedom of speech is taken away then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.” This holds true with numerous nations throughout the globe where their populace is forbidden to speak freely.

Too many Americans are being silently submissive when our freedom of speech and other freedoms are threatened or being attacked and must instead start being vocally defiant. This especially applies to Americans who are now in the 4th quarter of their lives and have enjoyed a lifetime of freedom and liberty.

The older generation of Americans needs to dust off their Crystal Balls and take a long look into them to see the oppressed and depressed America our youths and future generations face and every American must perpetually keep in mind what Ronald Reagan forewarned - “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.”

​The older generation of Americans needs to take a long, hard look into the future to see the oppressed and distressed America that awaits our youth and future generations. Every American must remember what Ronald Reagan warned: “Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction. We didn't pass it to our children in the bloodstream. It must be fought for, protected, and handed on for them to do the same.”
